Limited edition of the L model prototype. Bike Pixel L is intended as a rear light for your bicycle. Whether you just want to be one of the first persons to have a Bike Pixel L, improve you safety or contribute to further development of this project you can get this limited edition. The new prototype includes:
- 10 diferent preset modes and icons,
- adjustable color and brightness,
- 64 LEDs NeoPixel matrix panel,
- 84 x 84 x 14 mm,
- 2500 mAh LiPo battery,
- USB C connection,
- customizable 3D printed case (I’ll contact you to set its color).
Note that this is a prototype so there is a lot of things to improve. The case is not perfect, there is no information about battery status and is not fully water proof (but it don’t breake with rain).
This purchase is recommended only for project’s supporters. As probably you know Bike Pixels is a project with the aim of build an open source hardware set of awesome customizable bicycle lights. The project is fully open source and based on Arduino so you can edit and improve the design and the code.
NeoPixel matrix
NeoPixels are individually addressable RGB LEDs. Red, green and blue are integrated alongside to produce hundreds of color combinations. Bike Pixel L integrate an 8 by 8 NeoPixel matrix with a total of 64 single LEDs. Different icons and effects can be displayed on it to make you visible on the road.
Displaying modes and effects
With you Bike Pixel L you can choose among 10 different modes. Current prototype include:
- Square
- Circle
- Arrow
- Warning
- Heart (recommended as the drivers tend to give you higher space)
- Alien
- Scull (if you want to be a bad ass)
- Ghost
- Thunder
- Christmas tree
Open hardware
Bike Pixel is an Open Source Hardware certified by the Open Source Hardware Association (OSHWA). This means that all the files and instructions required to build a Bike Pixel L are open. You can get them from our GitHub repository and create your own version. The project is based on Arduino so you can edit the code and customize everything and mak the project even better.
